nexus-7-tab-32Jono Bacon announced yesterday, October 26th, on his personal blog that the upcoming Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) operating system will support the Nexus 7 tablet from Google.

The Ubuntu Developer Summit for Ubuntu 13.04 will start next Monday, on October 29th and the development team is preparing to give attendees a demonstration of Ubuntu OS on the Google Nexus 7 tablet.

Ubuntu-13-04-Will-Have-Linux-Kernel-3-8-2The newest operating system from Canonical, Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal), is shipping with Linux kernel 3.5, but the upcoming Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) could arrive with Linux kernel 3.8.

According to Michael Larabel from phoronix.com, the upcoming Ubuntu 13.04, due for release on April 25th, 2013, will probably feature the Linux 3.8 kernel, which is not even in development stage yet.

A few minutes ago, November 16, Nvidia released version 310.19 of its graphics driver for Linux, Solaris and FreeBSD operating systems.

Nvidia 310.19 brings support for OpenGL 4.3, support for configuring stereo audio in nvidia-settings, support for configuring the ViewPortOut and ViewPortIn for monitors in nvidia-settings, adds a new option in nvidia-settings, called 'UseHotplugEvents', to allow suppression of RandR events when non-DisplayPort displays are removed or added, support for configuring reflection and rotation per monitor in nvidia-settings, support for HDMI 3D Stereo output (supporting Quadro Kepler and later GPUs).

Ubuntu-13-04-Default-Wallpaper-Was-Revealed-Download-It-Now-2Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) is set to launch in April 2013, but the development team has chosen to reveal the official default wallpaper.

It's not clear why the default wallpaper has been revealed so early in the development cycle. Usually, this kind of decision goes through a process in which the winner is chosen. This version may not be the final one, but it sure looks like some kind of evolution.
